Neutrality
We never talk any particular shipper's book. We stand on the client side and design the optimal sourcing, every time.
Direct fresh produce imports, consulting and import operations BPO, in one place.
From origin negotiation to import documentation, overseas settlement and logistics coordination—we take on your entire trade back office. Companies with no import department of their own can begin cross-border sourcing without hiring specialists. Fourteen years of direct fresh produce importing (Mexico, Peru, Chile and Australia) stands behind every shipment you make.
OUR BUSINESS / THREE IN ONE
Trading
A direct-import trading house connected to growers ourselves. A consultancy that designs your business from a first-hand read on markets and origins. And an import operations BPO that takes on origin negotiation, documentation, overseas settlement and logistics coordination as a single package. Because we import on our own account, we can take on your imports with an operator's eye.
01
We never talk any particular shipper's book. We stand on the client side and design the optimal sourcing, every time.
02
Not desk-bound generalities. We judge on first-hand information from the field and on verifiable facts.
03
We do not stop at advice. From running operations to negotiation and continuous improvement, we commit hands-on to execution.
01 CHALLENGES
Global sourcing in fresh produce hides risk factors that only insiders can see. We have the knowledge to cover every one of them.
You want to take on overseas sourcing, but lack both the know-how and the people.
You have no access channel to shippers you can trust, and no idea who to work with.
Trade operations—purchasing, customs, logistics, documentation—are complex, locked inside one person's head, and stretching your team thin.
Quality claims after delivery are hard to handle, so you end up absorbing the loss.
02 IMPORT BPO
From origin negotiation through settlement and logistics, we take on the whole trade back office. We rebuild your import department as an outsourced function.
We negotiate with growers on your behalf, so you source with fewer parties in between and on equal terms.
We prepare certificates of origin, phytosanitary certificates and related documentation.
We handle the preparation, follow-up and record-keeping of overseas payments. Note: the transfer of funds itself is carried out by financial institutions.
Full container loads, of course, and small air-freight lots just as readily. Note: customs procedures are carried out by our partner licensed customs brokers (NAX JAPAN and others); our role is arrangement, coordination and information flow.
MERIT 01
Not simply outsourcing. We make work that lived in one person's head visible and standardised, into a process anyone can run.
MERIT 02
Hand off routine operations and redirect your people to judgement, negotiation and decision-making.
MERIT 03
Not a generalist back-office BPO, but expertise in fresh produce import operations and nothing else.
MERIT 04
Fourteen years of direct fresh produce importing (Mexico, Peru, Chile, Australia) and the grower relationships that come with it.
This service covers fresh produce import operations only. We are neither a licensed customs broker nor a financial institution. Customs procedures are carried out by licensed customs brokers and funds are transferred by financial institutions; our role is to take on the practical work of preparing, arranging, coordinating and record-keeping. We work with corporate and business clients, and accept everything from full container loads to small air-freight lots.
BPO stands for Business Process Outsourcing, a management approach in which a company entrusts part of its business processes to a specialized external provider.
BPO is generally traced back to the late 1980s and 1990s, when large Western corporations began outsourcing the operation of their information systems to specialist firms. Its scope later expanded to accounting, human resources, call centers and other functions that demand expertise but are not a company's core strength. Today it is an established practice across industries.
In Japan, trading companies have long handled the practical work of trade together with buying and selling: negotiating with growers, preparing import documents, making overseas payments and coordinating logistics. This work requires specialized knowledge and experience, yet for businesses that simply want to source products, it is not their core business.
Since our founding in January 2012, Fruits Republic has built its expertise in the direct import of fresh produce. Drawing on that experience, we carve out this trade back office and take it on for our clients. Our clients focus on merchandising and sales, while we manage operations from origin to arrival in Japan. This is our Import Operations BPO. For overseas growers seeking to enter the Japanese market, we offer Japan Market Entry BPO, providing end-to-end support from buyer introductions through to execution.
Customs procedures are carried out by our partner licensed customs brokers.
03 SERVICES
From consultation through to execution. We offer the fresh produce import value chain in modules, so you take only the scope you need. Consulting is the entry point, and we commit all the way through to operations.
01
CONSULTING
What, where and how to source. We put the legal assessment of import feasibility (plant quarantine and bilateral quarantine conditions) at the very top of the process, then support you hands-on, on the client side, from market and origin evaluation through sourcing strategy and quality specification design.
Scope: Market assessment / origin evaluation / import feasibility / landing cost modelling / profitability scenarios / specification design / business feasibility
02
IMPORT OPERATIONS BPO
From origin negotiation through customs arrangement, quarantine response and logistics, we take the complex work of trade off your hands entirely. Plant quarantine, food sanitation and customs—the three inspections—are handled in parallel together with our partner customs brokers, so you can start importing fresh produce without a trade department.
Scope: HS classification / customs arrangement (via partner brokers) / AEO / plant quarantine / food import notification / L/C and UCP 600 / Incoterms 2020 / reefer and CA arrangement / bonded storage / domestic delivery / testing for processed foods and samples
We cover pre-import ingredient checks, arranging residual pesticide and food additive testing, liaison with testing laboratories, obtaining documentation from overseas plants, coordinating sample shipments, and receipt of the final test reports. Our track record includes imported juices, candy and beef jerky (animal quarantine included).
03
SHIPPER MATCHING
From the direct network we have built across global origins such as Mexico, Peru and Australia, we assign the shipper that fits your item, specification and volume. Credit checks and sample evaluation give you an entry point that does not misfire.
Scope: Credit investigation / eligibility verification / sample evaluation / attendance at the first deal
04
CLAIM NEGOTIATION
Quality defects such as anthracnose are assessed objectively against facts and records—dry matter, Brix, pulp temperature—and we negotiate compensation with the shipper on your behalf. No more absorbing the loss in silence.
Scope: AQL sampling / defect records / inspection reports / third-party inspection / compensation negotiation / marine cargo insurance claims / specification improvement
05
TRADE DX
Digitising documents and automating matching and re-keying frees experienced staff from low-value clerical work, and turns tacit knowledge into something written down. People concentrate on difficult judgement calls and on customers.
Scope: AI-OCR / automated document matching / notation standardisation / core system integration / process visibility / small-start support
NETWORK
Contracts, credit, settlement, tax, dispute resolution—we lock down the risks hidden in cross-border trade together with lawyers, accounting firms and specialist bodies in Japan and abroad. A solid back office, designed so that sourcing on the front foot never has to stop.
LEGAL
Keep cross-border disputes from arising, and come out ahead when they do.
FINANCE
Quietly strengthening the cash and collection side that fresh produce makes so particular.
06 WHY US
Operational knowledge built in the field, not at a desk. Which is why we deliver solutions that work, rather than advice that stays on paper.
01
Insight gathered by walking farms, packing houses and ports ourselves, from Latin America to Oceania. Cropping calendars, supply gaps and origin risk are understood on site, not on paper.
02
A direct network with no intermediaries in between. D&B credit checks and GLOBALG.A.P. (GGN verification) give transparent visibility of shipper creditworthiness and eligibility, building a traceable supply chain.
03
We measure dry matter, Brix and pulp temperature, and judge defects through AQL-based sampling. Quality is assessed against standards (Codex, UNECE) and facts, not instinct.
04
Photographs, data loggers and inspection reports turn defects into evidence, and we negotiate on the basis of COFREUROP, DRC and other trade practice rules, through to marine cargo insurance claims. You never absorb the loss.
